You can determine not only individual persons as heirs, you can disinherit even individuals, if you definitely do not want that you are inherited by this person.
Unless you have placed no will or an agreement, the statutory succession applies. Thereby it can happen that people become heirs who are not welcome. One can counteract this by disinheritance.
